Engaging Storytelling Workshops for Senior Living Residents
Taught by Errol McLendon, residents will engage in a learning experience from a veteran of the storytelling community who is passionate about helping seniors reconnect with their memories, express themselves creatively, and build community through storytelling.
These workshops provide a fun and interactive way for residents to share life experiences, spark creativity, and connect with others in a meaningful way.
Here’s what residents can expect:
-
Gentle storytelling prompts to inspire memories and creativity.
-
Interactive group sharing that fosters connection and laughter.
-
A no-pressure, inclusive environment—everyone has a story to tell.
-
A complimentary demo session is available so residents can experience the joy of storytelling firsthand.
Why Storytelling?
Storytelling is more than just entertainment—it’s a powerful tool for connection, memory, and wellbeing. According to a study published in Aging & Mental Health (2017), storytelling programs in senior living communities have been shown to improve mood, cognitive function, and social interaction among older adults. It also provides an inclusive space for residents to laugh, reflect, and share their own memories sparked by the stories they hear.
Program Highlights:
-
Live, themed storytelling sessions (30–60 minutes)
-
Stories designed to evoke nostalgia, joy, and community spirit
-
Interactive memory-sharing circles afterward
-
Customizable for holidays, seasons, or community events
